Surly Straggler Frameset 700c - Gloss Black

Product information "Surly Straggler Frameset 700c - Gloss Black"

Straggler shares all of the Cross-Check's braze-ons for fenders, racks and bottle cages, and like the Cross-Check its ready to take you just about anywhere. It's a day tripper and a weekender. It's a 'rough road' road bike. It's a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing. It's a utilitarian townie. It's a light-duty touring bike. It's an all-weather commuter. And when you get tired of one set up, you can swap parts around and turn it into something else.

  • Fender eyelets at the dropouts, front and rear rack bosses and dual water bottle mounts, downtube shifter mounts
  • 100% Surly proprietary 4130 chromoly tubing. TIG-welded, double-butted main triangle
  • Forward-exiting horizontal dropouts with adjusters give you singlespeed compatibility and wheelbase adjustability to help you fit the tires and fenders you want to run with that drivetrain you want to run.
  • Frame is ED Coated for increased life expectancy

Why buy your frame at Just Pedal?

For every frame we ship out here at Just Pedal we can (when necessary):

  • ream and face head tube and bottom bracket tube
  • face the crown race of the fork
  • Install headset and/or bottom bracket

Why would you Ream or face your frame and fork?

When using 2 seperate cups for headset (always) or bottom bracket (for all non-square taper bottom brackets) it is important these 2 cups are as parallel and in line as possible. Most tubes are straight (and if not, there is nothing a normal mechanic can do about it), so the cups will be in line, but not all tubes are cut straight, and also paint may cause this non-parallelism. By facing both ends of the tube you can ensure the cups are seated in the frame as parallel as possible. This will cause less wear of and play in the bearings.
