Headset
When selecting a frame normally we give a suggestion for a matching headset in the Frame detail page. When including a frame prep, we install the headset, free of extra charge!
Frame Prep
Mounting headset and bottom bracket in a unprepped steel frame can result in premature bearing wear. Most production frames come unprepped, so be smart and include the Frame prep in your order!

Tom Ritchey welded up his first bicycle in his parents’ garage more than 50 years ago – when he was only 15-years old. Since then, he has continued riding, researching, designing, and building legendary bicycle frames and components that have inspired generations of cyclists to experience great rides, influenced legions within the bicycle industry, and have won countless championships.
To celebrate Ritchey’s 50th anniversary and Tom’s enduring and influential spirit of off-road adventure, the 50th Anniversary Outback proudly sports a Half Moon Blue paint scheme - an amazingly beautiful light blue to deep blue fade that truly moves the soul. Additionally, this limited-edition gravel rig is adorned with special Ritchey logos that reference the company's history and the influence Palo Alto, California has had on Tom.
Painstakingly TIG-welded with proprietary triple-butted Ritchey Logic steel tubing, the Outback frame delivers the legendary Ritchey ride quality that’s resilient over the harshest terrain and delightfully responsive when you want to open it up.
Road, off-road, trail, expedition, you name it...the 50th Anniversary Ritchey Outback is designed do it all.

First introduced back in 2007, and perhaps somewhat misunderstood at the time, the Singular Peregrine is back by popular demand. Although its drop-bar-big-tire-classic-styling essence is the same, it’s seen a few geometry tweaks and changes to bring it up to date, and it now sports thru-axles and flat-mount brakes. It also has a lovely new bi-plane fork that makes space for 29 x 2.0 or 27.5 x 2.3″ rubber and is offered in two different shades of blue.

The original inspiration for the Wolverine was “monster cross”, but it is seriously so much more. Its geometry is stable enough for off road touring, but sporty enough for all-around adventure and gravel riding. With its sliding dropouts, you can run single-speed, derailleur gearing or hub gearing.
The primary differences between the 3.0 and v. 4 Type-A and B is a new 46cm size, an extra set of water bottle bosses, and additional stack height on most sizes. The Type-A ALSO adopts more modern standards such as 142mm rear thru-axle and a 44mm headtube that will fit 1-1/8 straight steerer or tapered steerer with the proper headset type. The Disc Trucker shares the same great features as the standard Long Haul Trucker with the addition of disc brakes, to provide dependability on the daily commute or trans-continental excursion. It’s designed to go the distance, and the rack mounts enable it to haul a bunch of stuff. The frame features a low bottom bracket and long chainstays for comfort and stability.
For 2020 the Disc Trucker has a revised & updated geometry. The new Disc Trucker has slightly shorter chainstays that add more agility when riding unloaded or with only a few things. We increased the stack and the headtube height. With a larger stack comes reduced standover clearance. So, we massaged the numbers to net just as much (if not more) standover than the legacy model, but you may notice that not all sizes have a truly horizontal top tube.
The new dropouts are built around a 12mm thru-axle front and rear, and the bike is spaced at 100mm front and 142mm rear, with threaded axles. Specs:
100% 4130 chromoly steel frame and fork; main triangle double-butted, ED coated for increased life expectancy
Upper bosses and dropout eyelets for racks front and rear, fender eyelets, pump peg, spare spoke carrier, and three sets of water bottle cage mounts
The fork includes a routing hole for your dynamo hub. This isn’t earth-shattering, but proper placement cleans up the front end quite a bit.
Chainring clearance max: 42/53t double, 38/52/56t triple
51mm IS disc mounts, designed to be used with 160mm rotors only
Clears a 26 x 2.1" tire with or without fenders
Rear brake mounting between seat stay and chain stay for zero interference with fenders or racks
The new dropouts are built around a 12mm thru-axle front and rear
The bike is spaced at 100mm front and 142mm rear, with threaded axles.
Still compatible with triple cranks for when you need all the gear range you can get!
Rohloff internally geared hub compatible using the upper rack mount on the NDS dropout. The boss is sized to mimic an M6 bolt head and index perfectly with an OEM2 axle plate. A chain tensioner will be necessary.
